Location Update 2

Well, I’m sad to say that negotiations did not work out for the location we were attempting to acquire. So the search continues.

Starting a business has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. There are a million rules, regulations, and decisions. The list of tradeoffs is staggeringly long. Not only do you have to raise money, you have to learn all the nuances of the county/city regulations, learn how to legally set up your organization, learn all the brewing regulations for your state, learn how to manage a company, to manage people, manage websites, social media; the list is exhaustive and you haven’t even opened the doors yet or earned your first dollar. Then you have to convince someone to let you lease a space. That person might be out of state and the process can be excruciatingly slow. It’s an experience only a crazy person would undertake.

Being an entrepreneur is not for the faint of heart. For those of you that think being a good brewer means being able to run or start a brewery, you are in for a huge surprise. I however am crazy. You have to be to try and start a business like this. You have to be an optimist and you have to want it so badly and be so focused that you almost will the business into existence.

Even though we’ve hit a snag, we’re not going to give up. Every failure is an opportunity to learn and grow. I think we will find a location very soon and all of this juggling will be a thing of the past. New experiences will create new failures and new learning opportunities.

Here’s to new opportunities.

Cheers.
